Dr. Matthew Grierson is a sports medicine physiatrist in Seattle, Washington, with a unique background as a ballroom and modern dancer. He earned his BFA in Modern Dance at the University of Utah before going on to medical school at Boston University. Today, he cares for professional performers with companies like Pacific Northwest Ballet and Whim W’Him Contemporary Dance, as well as dancers of all ages, abilities, and levels. He co-founded Seattle Dance and Performing Arts Medicine, a nonprofit that provides free care for uninsured dancers, and was recently elected President-Elect of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science. In his private clinic, he also works with athletes and everyday movers, and at home he’s the proud dad of two mischievous pugs, Nico and Oliver.
